What cwp can write

shipped 2.0.0

What cwp can do lists the actions. This page lists what each one writes: the individual steps a run performs, one line each.

These are the same names the tool prints. A step here is an entry in the plan a command builds before it touches anything. --dry-run shows you this list narrowed to your project, and the run reports against it. Nothing a command does is missing from its plan. An operation that performs a step it did not declare is a defect, and cwp reports it instead of going on.

Angle brackets are the parts your project fills in: <n> a count, <env> the environment you named, <path> a file in your tree. A step is shown at its fullest. The optional halves of a line appear here, and a run that has nothing to put in them leaves them out.

cwp reads this page from the effects in the source. The code declares 60 steps, and the page has that many.

Reading the columns

Writes to: your tree is a file in your repository and no site at all. local site is the environment cwp init writes into cwp.yml under that name, the copy on this machine. named environment is the one you put on the command line. either means the step is one or the other. It depends on whether you named an environment; the plan decides that before it runs and prints it in the confirmation.

Destructive: whether the step can discard something that was there. The confirmation names a destructive step rather than counting it. depends means the answer is a property of the run. An update that overwrites an edit somebody made on the site is destructive. The same update against an untouched post is not.

If it fails: whether the run ends there or carries on. run stops leaves everything after that step undone. run continues reports the failure, finishes the rest and still ends non-zero. cwp names the steps that would stop it before it starts.
